Early Bombard

This is a cannon made by a civilization who has learned the basic general principles of firearms well enough, but still has a lot to learn in technical areas. In is a tube of fairly crude cast iron tubes that has been inexpertly welded together with a plug in the end mounted on a rough wooden frame. Such weapons are used both by armies as siege weapons and on ships as crude naval artillery. It's fires stone, ceramic or cast iron balls about 65cm in diameter or a spray of random scraps of metal and pebbles. While they can batter down castle walls easily enough and in sea battles they definitely leave an impact on enemy ships, their crude construction combined with the unrefined powder and inexperienced crews mean that these items have a bad tendency of exploding in a thousand razor sharp shards.
