Timeline-3177, July 13th 2212: The Imperial Japanese Space Navy's seventh fleet has entered 61 Ursae Majoris system, led by the Empire's most prestegious of warships, the IJSN Yamato (7th ship to bear the name) under command of Admiral Takahiro. Five Months ago, Kaiser Dietrich-III (senior most leader of European Alliance) ordered a suprise invasion of the Empire's colony of Shin Hokkaido. Now the Empire is the agressor, moving against Port Tripitz, one of the Alliance's most substanial naval bases. This new war has caught the attention of several other powers. While the isolationist United States is nearly universally against entering this conflict beyond trade, the British Commonwealth leans towards it's old eastern ally while the newly emerged Amazonian Federation, with it's close ties to the Alliance is under increased pressure to bring itself into the fray against the Empire of the Rising Sun. The USSR's Politburo, with longstanding greviences with both the Empire and the Alliance is observing developments closely and the Soviets remains a wildcard in this conflict.
